As a mark of respect for the Loughrey and Mulligan family the lotto draw, initially scheduled for June 24th, has now been postponed until Monday July 1st.
Paddy Loughrey was involved with the lotto since its inception 30 years ago. The lotto has been a great source of funding for the club but there is a lot more work involved behind the scenes. It requires dedication, a strong commitment, due diligence and most importantly, the ability to work with the people around you. Paddy had all these qualities and more. He has forged so many friendships over the years with his fellow lotto committee members and also the many people he came across representing the club. As per the family’s request, the club will make a donation to Kildare Pallative Home Care Team. We will hold a guard of honour at Broadford Church on Monday, meeting at 10.30am.
Our community was dealt another blow with the sad passing of Eileen Mulligan, also this weekend. Eileen also has strong roots in the club with her brother, Jim Baker, a member of our 1957 team while her sons Ned and Paddy played for the club as has her grandson, James. Paddy has served as a selector/ manager on some of our football teams and took over from Paddy Loughrey on the lotto committee. We will hold a guard of honour for Eileen at Broadford Church on Monday, meeting at 6.30pm.
We extend our deepest sympathies to both families at this sad and difficult time. They are all in our thoughts and prayers.
