Mick Tyrrell Table Quiz 2025
Joe Phelan was back in the hot seat as Quizmaster as we came together on February 7th for the annual Mick Tyrrell Table Quiz. It was great to see so many people from the community, players and members of Mick’s family in attendance to honour a remarkable clubman who sadly passed away 10 years ago this February 14th.
Anne, Sue and Linda made sure everyone was checked in and had a chance to win one of the many amazing prizes ranging from a hamper donated by Bergins XL Store, Derrinturn, hamper from Keanes Healthpoint, Edenderry, prize from Inspirations Hair Salon, Edenderry, prize from Highfield Golf Course and many more prizes kindly donated by committee members. Special thank you also to Camilius and Martina Tyrrell for the voucher for The Hamlet Court Hotel, a lovely treat for a lucky winner!
As they say an army doesn’t march on an empty stomach! As the teams battled it out Karen distributed tasty homemade treats kindly donated by Clocha Rince National School after their Grandparents Day. This was very much appreciated and kept the teams going through all 8 rounds.
Once everyone was settled in Joe fired off questions which got the brains working. The questions ranged from general knowledge, GAA, geographical and also topically one in relation to the upcoming Clogherinkoe/Broadford Film Awards. Who will play Father Jack in the Father Ted Production? Delighted to report everyone seemed to know that will be Padraig Gravin. After each round Seamus had the enviable task of ensuring the leaderboard was updated accordingly.
After the eight rounds concluded we had an outright winner! There was excitement though when for the first time ever there was a tie for second place. A tie breaker question was issued and the eventual winners were declared as “The Field” who included Ollie Conlan, Karen and Robbie Dunne, Liam Cunningham, and Will Coyne. The first team winners were “The Valentines” who proudly accepted the Mick Tyrrell Cup from Camilius. The Valentines included Peadar Farrell, Josephine, Kevin and Evelyn Coughlan and Colum Cusack. The winning players team were The Bumblebees and included Holly Swan, Mark Grehan, Killian Galligan and Jamie Boyle.
Thank you to everyone for your support on the night and donations to the raffle. We really appreciate it.
