Rehearsals Night 1

In the words of Tiesto, Let’s get down, let’s get down to business! Following on from the night of the big reveal, phenomenal work has been going on in the background between the organising committee of the Clogherinkoe/Broadford Film Award Night and Kevin Rowe Events. With casts announced, each film was given a half hour time slot to receive their script and conduct a read through. A late venue change from Broadford NS to Clocha Rince NS due to a power outage, courtesy of Storm Èowyn, didn’t affect attendance with a near 100% turnout on the night. A lot of the attendees had only gotten power back while some were still without, so their dedication to this event must be commended!

As everyone waited to be called into the classroom to meet Karen and Linda from Kevin Rowe Events, the conversations were lighthearted with a slight air of giddiness. It would remind you of a Parent/Teacher Meeting, depending on what type of student you were. Karen and Linda were seated at a table waiting for their budding actors to enter. They ran very efficiently through the script and gave great advice on how best to proceed before the next rehearsal- Practice, Practice and more Practice!!!

While it was fun reading through the script, make no mistake there will be a serious commitment required to learning all the lines, sourcing locations and props etc. After the read through, the dynamics changed. Some casts retired to another room to read through the script again while others held hushed conversations in the corridor about suitable locations, possible props and most importantly where to carry out additional rehearsals. Faye and the crew will be delighted to hear that the Clubhouse was a popular choice!

Other conversations concerned whether a footballers iconic beard should be shaved off in Forrest Gump, the person in question apparently willing to do so! The Bull McCabe on the other hand was looking for tips on how to cultivate his beard in time for filming. The Squid Game cast seemed to be ahead of everyone with costumes already decided on as a questionable looking tracksuit was passed around for a fitting. The other crews were playing their cards close to their chest, not wanting to give anything away.

While locations and questions were flying about, Richard and Faye had the enviable task of trying to move everyone along on to another classroom for their cast photos to be taken and relay more information in relation to sponsorship and tickets.

You may have noticed iDonate pages have been set up for each film and we would like to thank everyone so far for their incredible generosity! Any businesses who have not been approached for corporate sponsorship and would like to be involved, please contact an actor or a committee member for more information. We look forward to sharing how you can get a ticket to what will be the biggest event of the year on March 15th in Johnstown House Hotel. In the meantime, if you see anyone in the Parish practising their part as they go about their business, make sure to give them a wave or a beep of support!
